Stories Behind the Statistics for 2007
MESARD currently has 22 members and 18 certified dogs. All members are ground searcher certified through the Maine Association of Search and Rescue. MESARD was called to 28 searches throughout Maine and 1 search in New Brunswick in 2007 and fielded teams in 19 searches. MESARD dog teams had 4 finds this year. During 2007, MESARD members donated 1,188 hours of time and 22,300 miles of travel to searching. They donated 69 hours and 947 miles to do public demonstrations and preventative SAR education.
