Cindy Atwood DVM

Breed: Leonberger
Certifications: Sir Galahad was certified in tracking/trailing. As of May of 2011, he turned 10 years of age, and he is now retired from search work.

Cindy has been a member of MESARD since 2002.
Jim Bridge
Southern

Jim joined MESARD in 2007 as a Flanker providing navigation, communication and first aid support. He is a certified wilderness ground searcher with previous experience in search and rescue in Alaska and maintains certification as a Wilderness First Responder (WFR).

John Corriveau
Northern

Breed:  Australian Shepherd
Certifications:  Jodie is certified in wilderness airscent.

John has been active in SAR since 2004 and a member of MESARD since 2005. The team is currently on leave, we hope to see them back soon.

Roger David
Southern

Roger was Certified as a Flanker and voted in as a MESARD member in August, 2010. He provides navigation to the dog handler, communication to the search command, and any necessary wilderness first aid. Roger is a Certified Wilderness First Responder, a Registered Maine Guide, a Deputy Chief and Training Officer for the Lincoln County Search and Rescue Response Team and a MASAR Certified Ground Searcher.

Jennifer Fisk
Downeast

Breed: German Shepherd
Certifications: Fran is certified in wilderness airscent.

Jennifer is a current member, and one of the founding members, of both Mount Desert Island Search and Rescue and MESARD. Fran is her 5th SAR dog.

Michele Fleury
Central
Breed: Dutch Shepherd
Certifications: Nya is certified in cadaver detection and water search. She has also completed the International Police Work Dog Basic Cadaver Certification.

Michele has been a member of MESARD since 1992. Alli and Nya are her 3rd and 4th SAR dogs.


Breed: Portuguese Water Dog
Certifications: Alli is certified in wilderness airscent and cadaver detection.  She is also certified through the International Police Work Dog Association in Advanced Cadaver and Basic Air Scent.

Spencer Fuller
Southern

Breed: German Shorthair Pointer
Certifications: Moxie (mostly liver) is certified in wilderness airscent, tracking, article search, water search and cadaver detection.

Spencer has been active in SAR since 1994 as a member of Lincoln Search and Rescue’s High Angle and Swift Water Rescue Team, He maintains his Wilderness First Responder certification. Spencer has been a member of MESARD since 1997. Moxie is his 2nd SAR dog.

Sean Hall
Downeast

Breed: German Shepherd
Certifications: Ella is certified in wilderness airscent.

Sean is a paramedic and has been a member of MESARD since 1996. Ella is his second SAR dog.

Jay Holweger
Midcoast

Breed: Labrador Retriever
Certifications: Maddy is certified in wilderness airscent.

Jay has been a member of Waldo County Search and Rescue since January 2007 and a member of MESARD since July 2007.

Leslie Howe
Downeast

Breed: German Shepherd
Certifications: Freida is certified in wilderness airscent and has completed IPWDA advanced cadaver.

Leslie has been a member of MESARD since 2004
 

Pictured below, Freida is Leslie's new dog, Vrijheid's Eron, a Dutch Shepherd. Eron is certified in wilderness airscent .

David Hudson

Breed: Bloodhound
Certifications: Ruby is certified in tracking/trailing

David is a firefighter/paramedic and has been a member of MESARD since 2004


Pictured lower left, Ruby is David's new bloodhound, Pepsi. She is one year old and is in training for trailing and HRD.

Paul Magoon
Central

Breed: Labrador Retriever
Certifications: Sarde is in training airscent.

Paul is an EMT and has been a member of MESARD since 1988. Sarde is his 3rd SAR dog.

Irene Morey
Downeast

Breed:  German Shepherd & Malinois
Certifications:  Eiko (GSD) is certified in wilderness air scent. Nika (Malinois) is now retired from article and cadaver detection.

Irene has been a member of MESARD since 1999. Eiko and Nika are her 2nd and 3rd SAR dogs.

Troy Morey
Downeast

Breed:  German Shepherd
Certifications:  Sorcha is certified in wilderness airscent and cadaver detection.

Troy has been a member of MESARD since 1999.  Sorcha is his second SAR dog.

Deborah Palman
Central

Breed: German Shepherd
Certifications: Alex is certified in tracking/trailing, wilderness airscent, article search, water search and cadaver detection.

Deb was the Training Coordinator for the Maine Warden Service K9 Team and is one of the founding members of MESARD. She has served as Training Director for MESARD for over 24 years. Alex is her 4th certified SAR dog, certified in air scent, article and cadaver search and tracking. She recently certified a young female GSD, Quinni, for tracking and trailing and cadaver detection. In 2008 she retired from the Maine Warden Service after 30 years of service as a Maine Game Warden and is now offering dog training services under the business name of Maine K-9 Services.
Dan Pelletier
Central

Breed: Australian Shepherd

Aggie is working towards her certification in wilderness airscent.

Dan is a Master Maine Guide. He is also an animal control officer and a member of his community's fire department. Dan has been involved in search and rescue for over fifteen years, ten with MESARD. Dan returned to MESARD as a member in February 2007. Aggie is his second search dog.

Kelly Pontbriand
Downeast

Breed: Border Collie
Certifications: Tycho is certified in wilderness airscent.

Kelly works for the National Park Service and has been a SAR dog handler since 1985. Tycho is her fourth SAR dog.

Jennifer and Luka

Jennifer Rocheleau
Downeast

Breed: German Shepherd
Certifications: Luka is currently in training.

Jennifer has been active in SAR as a member of Berkshire Mountain SAR in Massachusetts and Yavapai County Sheriff’s Response Team – Search Dog Unit in Arizona. She has been a member of MESARD since 2004.

Beth Swartz
Central

Breed: Rottweiler
Certifications: Angel will be working towards her wilderness air scent certification.

Beth has been a member of MESARD since 1987 and has trained and certified two Rottweilers for wilderness air scent, water search, evidence and cadaver detection. She has a new puppy, "Angel", who has started her training for wilderness air scent.

Spirit is certified in wilderness airscent and water search.

Nancy has been a member of MESARD since 1998. Spirit is her 2nd SAR dog.

Chip Wadsworth

Breed: German Shepherd

Chip has been a member of MESARD since 1989. Wren is her 3rd SAR dog. Chile Peppa is now retired.
